About the Artist
My work is a quest for the freedom of poetic space. I use the grid and nature as metaphors of our dream states and desires. I am currently exploring deep space and genomic structures in an effort to raise awareness of our fragile planet experiences.
Louise was born in the Big Bend country of West Texas. Her childhood was spent in the sere plains, painting and drawing from an early age. She earned her BFA from Otis Art Institute in 1993, in painting and sculpture. She lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco until moving to Ohio in 2001, and has since returned to San Francisco where she has a studio at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato.
Her paintings and sculptures focus around the centering line of tension found between the effects of contemporary technologies and the inner, often hidden desires of the human soul.
Louise works mostly in oils, beeswax, birch, linen and canvas. Her award winning work is collected worldwide including Asia, Australia, USA, Latin America, Canada and Europe.
